Our client has identified an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Engineering Manager to work in their railway workshop.
This position offers the right candidate the chance to work in a unique environment in an area of outstanding natural beauty, for a hugely popular visitor attraction.
The role
As the Heritage Railway Engineering Manager, you will be completing a variety of work which will involve maintaining steam and diesel locomotives, carriages and rolling stock. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager you will predominantly be involved in managing and supervising tradesmen in the locomotive workshop.
As a seasonal visitor attraction, which operates seven days per week from March to October the successful candidate will be expected to take part in weekend management cover during this period.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate should have the relevant skills and experience to undertake the role including:
• HNC or degree level in an engineering discipline and will ideally hold a relevant Health & Safety Qualification
• Previous railway/locomotive engineering experience
• Good time management to achieve good quality work to a deadline
• Ability to plan and schedule work is essential
• Ability to manage others to a deadline.
• Excellent communication skills and can engage with staff
