An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to work across our national network of modern ERF facilities, to support all aspects of the mechanical engineering and maintenance of the ERF fleet.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer Role…

Joining the team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will assist in the support of plant outages, support lifecycle maintenance and CAPEX improvement projects, routine maintenance, root cause analysis (RCA) and report writing. This role will also support the existing ERF mechanical teams using relevant experience and skills and also in the co-ordination of contractors as required, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment, as well as making regular visits to our sites for planned and reactive maintenance. On a daily basis, this will involve:

 

  • Carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of our ERF equipment.
  • Co-ordination of support for steam turbine sets across all Viridor ERFs.
  • Reviewing plant & apparatus performance and identifying possible enhancements projects
  • Providing technical support to the ERF fleet mechanical engineering teams
  • Creation of detailed scopes of work / electrical engineering specifications ready to be sent out to tender
  • Managing statutory inspections ensuring all documentation is completed and up to date
  • Controlling a Safe System of Working to ensure activities are carried out in a safe manner.
  • Working as part of an effective ERF Engineering team striving for best available techniques (BAT) and continual improvement
  • Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the plant.

The Ideal Principal Mechanical Engineer…

 

 

  • Extensive experience of preventative maintenance within the ERF or Power Generation Business
  • Possess appropriate Engineering qualifications such as HNC / HND, Mechanical Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
  • Experience of Steam Turbine maintenance and support.
  • Legislative knowledge of the ERF industry and industry regulations (e.g. PSSR, PUWER, LOLER)
  • Experience working with Computerised Maintenance Management systems
  • Experience working with and (in some instances supervising) 3rd party contractors to deliver to planned programme of work
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental responsibility to enable individual to promote positive HS&E culture.
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Able to think logically and solve problems effectively and efficiently

The Principal Mechanical Engineer role offers a competitive salary of between £48,000 and £52,000 per annum as well as an attractive benefits package.
