Shine is seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our Trusts and Grants fundraising team as a Trusts Development Officer.
This is a major area of fundraising for the charity with ambitions to reach a GBP500k target in the new financial year.
The role will seek funding from Trusts and Foundations to deliver our invaluable services to members of all ages with the disabilities, spina bifida and hydrocephalus as well as their families.
The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of writing compelling funding requests whilst also having a strong interest in research and communication.
The successful applicant will thrive on working in a driven environment and growing long lasting relationships with Trusts providers to sustain and increase Shine's income enabling us to deliver new and existing services.
Key deliverables:
To support Shine's Grants and Trusts Manager in securing Trusts and Foundation funding to enable Shine to deliver our invaluable core services and a range of projects to support people of all ages with the disabilities, spina bifida and hydrocephalus. The key focus of the role is researching prospects, communication with existing and potential funders and writing compelling requests for funding to maximise Shine's Trusts income. This includes a strong local focus across geographical areas where Shine operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.???
  • To identify and research new prospects, identifying good fit with Shine's cause and making appropriate and timely application.
  • To ensure Shine retains current relationships with funders and maximises income through developing long term relationships with Trust providers
  • To develop, build and maintain new relationships with Trust providers
  • To write compelling requests to Trusts and occasionally to grant givers to secure income for Shine's core and project work
  • To tailor funding applications to meet the requirements of the funder conveying Shine's cause and our members' needs
  • To work with a geographical focus to ensure income is evenly spread across all geographical areas of delivery
  • To work with the Grants and Trusts manager to create compelling cases for support
  • To develop a deep understanding of the Charity and its objectives
  • To liaise and build relationships with staff internally including the finance and operations team to ensure that correctly costed projects and requests are submitted to funders.
  • To help maintain an accurate income database and other spreadsheets
  • To keep Raiser's Edge records (database) appropriately updated for all grants and trust actions.
  • To prepare and submit timely reports as required by funders working with internal teams.
  • To plan and prioritise work to ensure that key deadlines are met
  • To actively keep up to date with current funding climate to benefit Shine's work.
???Requirements - experience:
  • Experience of writing within a professional role
  • Experience of administration and managing own workload to deadline
  • Experience of using databases, preferably fundraising ones e.g. Raiser's Edge
  • Experience of researching prospects or similar
  • Experience of communicating with partner organisations or similar
Requirements - qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

Skills:
  • A good knowledge and understanding of the charity sector
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Confident and personable phone manner
  • Enjoy developing relationships with key trust personnel by letter, phone, email and in person
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail, and ability to recall names and connections
Abilities:
  • Able to prioritise workload to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Able to work in a flexible manner and as part of a team
  • Able to attend and represent Shine at occasional events
