SLW work with Somerset Secondary Schools, as part of this partnership we are working with The King Alfred Schoool. This School is seeking a Cover Supervisor to work with this successful, supportive and thriving 11-18 mixed comprehensive.
Required from May 2017, an energetic and creative individual who can relate positively to young people. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside school staff and to develop classroom management skills.
This post has arisen due to an internal move of a member of
the team. Essential requirements/personal qualities for this post are:
Required to cover classes during the short term absence of teaching staff and to support teaching and learning across the school.
You will give instructions for the lesson as provided by a teacher and the focus of the role will be to maintain good order and to keep pupils on task and respond to general enquiries.
Good interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to young people, their welfare, education and personal development. You will also need to act as a role model and have high expectations of conduct and behaviour.
The ability to show initiative, flexibility, reliability and a sense of humour.
A good general education which should include English and Maths to GCSE Level.
This post does not require qualified teacher status although applicants with this status are welcome to apply.
Experience of working with young people would be an advantage although a full training and induction programme will be provided.
