My client, a global manufacturing company, is looking to recruit an experienced manufacturing team member / Machinist / Production Operative for their large site in Ilminster. The successful manufacturing team member / Machinist / Production Operative must have previous manufacturing / engineering experience of producing a detailed quality product and able to meet high standards on a consistent basis. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings would also be helpful. Experience in milling, turning or any other engineering machinery operation would also be helpful, as would experience with measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers and micrometers.
The main purpose of your role will be to set and operate a number of different engineering machines. You will also be required to:
-Receive and check materials for production
-Set engineering machines
-Operate a range of machinery
-Carry out and check records
-Work well in a team
-Have good communication skills

This role is initially a fixed six month role. The hours are initially a day shift 08.00 -16.30 Mon -Thurs and 08.00-13.20 Friday however will change to a double day shift after training, working a 06.00-13.30 Mon-Fri or 13.55 -22.35 Mon-Thurs and then an early finish 17.55 on the Friday. Both shifts are 37.5 hours. Salary will depend on experience however will be from ??8.26-??8.58p/h with a 20% shift premium. 26 days holiday plus BH pro rata. There is a holiday premium of one third pay, group pension and there are training and development opportunities.
This role will suit a candidate who may have been an engineering operative, miller, turner, machinist, manufacturing, engineering technician.
