We are recruiting a Production Engineering Manager for a leading supplier of optical equipment for the aerospace, defence, industrial and scientific industries. They are looking to recruit a Production Engineering Manager with a background in automotive manufacturing to lead, train and develop their existing team from design into production. Based in Somerset at their state-of-the-art facility the Production Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of engineers to deliver and engineer customer expectations on time and to the right quality.
The Role:
- Leadership of personal development plans for team members and support via coaching and mentoring programmes.
- Management of team members to ensure new product introduction plans are met on time and to agreed budgets.
- Ensuring Production receive all routings, programmes, tooling and fixtures required to complete their tasks on time and to quality standards expected.
- Maintenance of BOM"s and routings to a high standard to support ERP planning and estimating systems.
- Leadership of process and tooling development to support annual productivity and continuous improvement targets to achieve business plans.
- Leadership of capital equipment definition and implementation plans.
- Leadership of cost estimating resource to support new business acquisition, ensuring that quotations are timely and accurate.
- Ensure staff maintain a key focus on cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, tooling spend reduction, process capability and RFT improvements.
- Conduct of business in line with company policies and procedures inclusive of full compliance with HSE and anti-bribery and corruption policy.
Skills Required:
Strong mechanical component manufacturing and precision machining background (CNC milling, turning, grinding).
An ability to build teams and develop key members via delegation, coaching and mentoring.
A passion for customer service, both externally and internally.
Commercially and financially aware with an ability to translate projects into real business value.
Experience / Qualifications:
Essential:
Must come from an automotive manufacturing background.
Demonstrable minimum 10 years' experience in a senior engineering role.
Must have collaborative and open working style and encourage the team to work in this manner.
