The job
We need a Support Engineer for our global production environment. This exciting role involves the following duties plus many more opportunities:
Daily support of the AWS production infrastructure
Supporting SaaS web applications (Windows IIS, ASP.NET)
Supporting the Microsoft SQL Server backend (SQL Server 2008-2016)
Liaising with the Development Team and Project Managers to undertake continuous software deployment to live customer systems
Maintaining networking and VPNs between customer sites (AWS and Linux)
Live bug tracking and fault fixing
Continuous environment and application monitoring
Infrastructure development and design
Maintenance of secure payment platforms to a PCI DSS compliant standard

Required experience, knowledge and skills
Proven track record of BAU customer support including bug fixing, database investigation, performance fault finding and resolution – minimum 3 years’ experience
Experience of 2nd/3rd line support of customer systems in a live environment and adherence to SLAs
Experience with software deployment technologies (Octopus Deploy would be beneficial)
Working knowledge of SQL databases (SSMS, SQL Server, T-SQL, Stored Procedures)
Good understanding of networking protocols such as subnetting, routing, IPSEC
At least foundation knowledge of cloud virtualisation technology (AWS/Azure/Citrix/VMWare)
Windows Server OS administration and maintenance (2008R2, 2012R2 and 2016)
Understanding of IIS 7 and support of ASP.NET web applications
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Good communication skills
Bonus: experience of working out of hours or on-call
Bonus: experience with Linux Server OS (Ubuntu/Amazon)
