Today that is represented in our key role delivering the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier and our provision of advanced radio equipment to all of the Royal Navy's surface combatants.The Work Package Manager is responsible for preparing the work package, performing cost estimates and delivering all work package activities (including those relating to risks and opportunities) in accordance with the requirement of specific bids and projects. This position is based at our Templecombe, Somerset site and forms part of the Work Package Management team.Key Responsibilities Ensure the delivery of work package outputs to meet the requirements of bids / projects relating to technical, scheduling and financial aspects.Oversees and co-ordinates the activities of other work package management personnel as required by the bid / project management team. Ensure that work package activities are defined, organised and planned in accordance with budget, scheduling, performance and quality of the bid / project.Control the requirements, performance, cost and schedule of the work package remit during the work package life cycle.Ensure that work package quality is maintained to the correct standard to assure customer and stakeholder satisfaction. Identify, act upon and communicate risks, issues and opportunities relating to the work packages.Conduct regular reporting on work package progress. Provide practical support to the bid / project management team in relation to the monitoring of the bid /project.Ensure that the work package is closed effectively (e.g. archiving of documents, closing the expenditure authorisations, capitalising and sharing lessons learnt). Skills, Qualifications and Experience Experience of providing a work package delivery service within a medium to large organisation. Strong service delivery ethos and orientation.Excellent technical work package management skills (such as; scheduling, risk management, stakeholder management, estimating, progress reporting). Proficiency in standard business management software packages (e.g. Microsoft office).A practical knowledge of bid / project management phases and lifecycles. Effective at operating across functional and departmental boundaries (working in a matrix style organisation).A strong understanding of the need for governance in bid / project management and the ability to uphold governance requirements. Ability to establish and meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise without the requirement for regular direct supervision.
