Home-Start is a federated network of local organisations which provide community based support for families and children. Over the past four decades Home-Start has supported over a million children and has become one of the leading family support charities across the UK.

We are introducing an exciting new international programme to accelerate language development in the home environment to improve the social, emotional and cognitive development of children from birth to 3 years and close achievement gaps. This is the LENA programme.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in early years’ work with a proven interest in speech and language development. Experience of project management including the ability to ensure the project remains on track and meets all operational, budget, reporting and evaluation is also required. You will need to have the ability to train trainers and have experience of engaging volunteers in supporting children to develop speech and language. Excellent communication skills are therefore essential.

You will hold up to date knowledge of early years’ evidence based practice in the voluntary and/or community sector and understand speech and language developmental stages and how to assess these in a home-based setting.

Ideally you will hold a degree in early years’ development and early years’ professional status, including educated in Level 3 Award in Supporting Children and Young People’s Speech, Language and Communication. A passion for improving outcomes for children and their families is key.
