Part of an International group of companies we provide comprehensive training and development through our program of staff development for new starters transferring into the world of precision optics.
Due to record growth, internal investment and continued expansion in several global markets our Ilminster facility has the following vacancies for the machining and hand manufacture of precision optical components and assemblies:
Vacuum Coating, Polisher and Bonder (all known as Optical Workers)
You will have the following skill sets;
- Exceptional hand eye coordination and dexterity
- Patience, able to produce consistent work at a high level, good levels of concentration and be able to work under pressure.
- Work in a cleanroom environment within a small team
- Self-motivated, capable of working and communicating effectively in a cross departmental and collaborative approach to resolving problems and improving manufacturing processes
- Experience of working to and participating in lean manufacturing initiatives such as 6S, TPM, CI programs
- The ability to read and work to technical drawings with high dimensional and geometric requirements and carry out visual and dimensional checks against pre-determined quality and cosmetic standards
- Maintain and track operational activity within a comprehensive quality management system and an ERP computerised manufacturing environment
- Safe use and application of a range of solvents and chemicals used in the cleaning and preparation of glass and crystal components
- A willingness to work shifts when required to do so
- Enjoy working with your hands
- Good practical maths GCSE grade C and above or equivalent with an appreciation for geometry and science.
