Based at Royal Victoria Park Nursery, Bath

Following the award of a Round One grant from the Lottery's Parks for People scheme to improve Sydney Gardens Bath and North East Somerset's Parks' service are looking to recruit a Community Ranger to lead the development and delivery of community engagement activities as part of the project.

Sydney Gardens, a popular urban park in the centre of Bath, is thought to be the only remaining 18th century pleasure garden in the UK: once popular with Jane Austen the site is a grade II listed feature in its own right and home to a number of important listed structures and features.

The Community Ranger will work alongside staff and volunteers to develop an extensive and ambitious activity plan for Round Two of the project, will lead volunteer sessions and trial new community engagement activities and will organise and manage a programme of community consultation activities to promote and ensure strong public support for the scheme.

This is a fixed term project to September 2018, with a possibility of extension to 2021 subject to ongoing HLF funding and performance review.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience of community engagement and audience development work, leading events and practical volunteering activities and publicising their work through a wide range of different media. They will have excellent communication skills and will have a proven ability to engage and work effectively with local communities and the public.
