The Social Mobility Foundation is a small, high-profile charity. We help young people from low-income backgrounds enter universities and professions through programmes of mentoring, internships, university application support and skills development. We are supported by over 200 employers across 11 different professions and by a board of high-profile trustees drawn from across the professions.
In 2014, the SMF opened a second office in Manchester: the first in a series of new offices throughout the UK to ensure that our work can be accessed by young people regardless of where they live in the country. In 2015, we opened our third office in Glasgow. In 2016, we opened a further two offices in Birmingham and Newcastle. This year, we are set to open our sixth office based in Liverpool.
We are looking for two Aspiring Professionals Programme Coordinators to join our new office in Liverpool.
The APP Coordinators have the responsibility of recruiting and supporting successful students as well as building good links with our supporters across Liverpool. The role will be very hands-on, having a lot of responsibility from the start to manage the programme as well as develop it along the way. The role will also involve occasional travel to the SMF’s other offices to provide support with events and to undertake additional training.
The successful candidate will:
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Have strong administration skills
- Have confidence with using IT
- Be confident preparing and delivering presentations
- Have excellent attention to detail when undertaking tasks
- Able to work as part of a small team
- Be hard-working and efficient
- Be a self-starter with ability to prioritise tasks
- Able to adapt to new situations that may arise and problem solve effectively
- Be committed to the aims of the charity
