Overview of Role:

Reporting to the Senior GIS Consultant, you will be responsible for undertaking GIS and CAD data preparation, data management, analysis, mapping and visualisation on our projects.

You will assist in the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Arcadis' services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan and to build networks within the industry.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Undertaking GIS mapping, analysis, data capture, data management and geoprocessing.

• Preparation of AutoCAD and GIS drawings including 2D maps and engineering drawings.

• Using AutoCAD Civil 3D and our specialist geotechnical data management software to produce geological cross section diagrams and 3D outputs where required.

• Calculation of earthworks volumes using Civil 3D.

• Loading and manipulating and analysing AGS data in our geotechnical data management system.

• Extraction and formatting of AutoCAD data into GIS formats.

• Analysing and processing data in Excel.

• Procurement, analysing and processing of remote sensing data (including LiDAR) to produce 2D and 3D models in AutoCAD and GIS.

• Working both with other members of the GIS team and on your own initiative to produce GIS deliverables to tight deadlines.

• Assisting with day to day administrative tasks.

• Contributing to the technical development of the GIS team through sharing ideas and innovations.

• Communicating client requirements to other staff.

• Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Arcadis.

Minimum Academic Qualifications & Certification:

• A* - C in GCSE Maths, English and Science.

Essential Experience:

• Understanding & keen interest in maps, geography, and IT.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work well within a team environment.

• Good attention to detail.

• Ability to identify innovative solutions to problems.

• Well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines.

• Desire to learn and build a career within a consultancy environment applying GIS to environment, geoscience, and infrastructure projects.

Desirable Experience:

• A Level in geography or related subject.

• Basic understanding of digital cartography and geomatics.

• Basic understanding of geotechnics, subsurface data, or geology related fields.

• Working knowledge of some of the following packages: AutoCAD Civil 3D, HoleBASE, gINT, Microsoft Excel and Access, ESRI ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS
