Applications are invited for a part time (22 hours per week) Research Nurse to work on a new medical device trial (BEST3), funded by Cancer Research UK, to facilitate the diagnosis of oesophageal pre-cancer in primary care. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of cancer research for patient benefit.
The post holder will be based in Cambridge working within an established translational research programme headed by Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald, focusing on screening for Barrett's Oesophagus and Oesophageal Carcinogenesis with a goal to better understand the molecular pathogenesis of the disease and hence to improve patient management. The role is an active nursing role with direct patient contact with particular emphasis on recruitment, sample collection, data entry and study co-ordination. The post holder will work within an established team of clinicians, researchers, research nurses and administrators and will involve some UK travel for which expenses will be reimbursed. The post holder should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to help meet the objectives of the study.
The successful candidate must have significant post-registration clinical experience and previous research experience in commercial and/or non-commercial clinical trials. Previous primary care experience is desirable.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 April 2019 in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with adults' barred list), a health assessment and a security check. This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.
