CAD Programmer

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced 2D CAD Programmer for a CNC Plasma to work in our office. Must have the ability to read simple engineering drawings and develop them in to flat patterns for cutting. The salary is negotiable depending upon experience and will be complimented with bonus opportunities. The position is full time on a permanent basis after an initial probation period. As the company grows there will be opportunities for personal development and progression. Basic training will be provided prior to starting where required.

Main responsibilities

1. Produce cut files to meet customer and drawing requirements

2. Profile nesting and programming

3. Some job quoting when workload permits

4. General office duties

6. Other duties where required

Essential experience / skills

1. Experience producing 2D drawings on a CAD software package

2. Experience working in an office environment

3. Ability to read basic fabrication drawings

4. Experience working in a fast paced, target driven environment.

Desired but not essential knowledge / experience / skills:

1. Working in a fabrication or construction office environment or similar

2. Working with steel and the ability to identify different steel grades

3. Knowledge of basic fabrication processes (e.g. powder coating, folding, tapped holes, etc.)

4. CAD / CAM nesting (ideally for a CNC Laser or plasma)

5. Proficient using Progress Plus

6. Experience job quoting

On the job training will be provided where necessary with the hope of meeting the majority of the desired criteria where required.

Basic salary will be negotiated and set due to level of experience. It will be reviewed after an initial probation period. Overtime will be available when workload demands. Opportunity to qualify for bonuses will be set at regular intervals and to achievable targets.
