The main purpose of this role is to carry out all finishing duties as per job bag instructions and to ensure all jobs are finished to the highest quality ensuring customer satisfaction at all times.

Accountabilities and responsibilities included but aren't limited too:

  • Deliver the finishing schedule (mechanical and manual activities) in the most efficient and effective manner ensuring all jobs are finished as per the correct procedure, in line with training received and instructions are followed as per job bag.
  • Maintain internal Quality Control procedures – including GMG (digital proof) sign offs.
  • Actively participate with the seamless transition of completed work from Finishing through to Despatch.
  • Complete all tasks in a manner that complies with safety, health and environmental legislation and company policy.
  • Actively encourage and promote a culture of professionalism, lead by example and demonstrate best practice in the tasks that are completed.
  • Proactively monitor and control the amount of waste produced during finishing processes, recording findings and assisting Managers to implement ideas and suggestions to reduce waste or resolve problems.
  • Utilisation of the company Quality Investigation Report (QIR) system.
  • Ensure the work environment is clean, tidy and safe, that equipment is safely maintained so the best quality print is achieved.
  • Read and understand risk assessments and follow a safe system of work.
  • To actively participate in LEAN activities to ensure the most efficient operation of the factory including
  • To follow all procedures and company policies as given to you by your Production Manager.
  • Ensure all PPE is worn at all times as and when necessary
  • Allocating work to team members
  • Acting as deputy for the Retail Finishing Manager
  • Assuring the finishing schedule is followed and adhered to
  • Liaising with Outdoor Finishing Manager, Production Controllers and Shift Managers regarding the progression of orders for despatch
  • Escalating any issues to the Shift Managers & Production Director in a timely and appropriate manner

Qualifications & Skills required:.

  • Experience in warehouse or plant operations
  • Experience of using hand pallet trucks and/or Forklift truck licences preferred or willing to be trained
  • Preferably within the print or associated industry
  • Practically minded with a technical/mechanical aptitude and willing and able to learn and apply new product or technical knowledge
  • Manual dexterity in relation to packing and taping of items.
  • Ability to use glue and tape guns.
  • Sound communication, and relationship building skills across all levels
  • Open to changing environment based on market conditions and business requirements
  • Willingness to work, gain experience and execute all processes in production.
  • Forward thinking with an appreciation of LEAN principles
  • Demonstrated willingness to question as-is to find process improvements and efficiency
  • Sound IT skills e.g. MS Office, Internet etc.
