Established in 1991, our client has been providing its customers with a cost effective and quality driven service solution for the past 25 years. During the company’s history, they have built, extended and refurbished all types of properties, including houses, schools, public buildings, factories, hospitals and shops.
Due to expansion they require an experienced site manager with a good working knowledge of current building practices, regulations, health & safety, environmental management etc. to join their team of dedicated and supportive managers.
Specific Duties
- Attend a project commencement meeting with the operation and commercial team
- Work closely with the contracts manager to produce a programme of works for the project
- Work closely with the contracts manager to execute the planned programme of works
- Monitor the performance of the project against the programme and take corrective action when necessary to ensure the programme is adhered to
- Work closely with the material buyer to produce a procurement programme for the project
- Supply the buyer with all material requisitions in a time manner that leaves the buyer with a suitable lead in time
- Ensure all work complies with all regulations applicable to those works
- Be responsible on a daily basis for the compliance with all statutory as well as company health and safety regulations
- Manage their own labour on site to ensure they are working safely, efficiently and producing the required quality of work
- Manage the subcontractors on site to ensure they are working safely, efficiently and producing the required quality of work
- Check all subcontractors RAMS and ensure these are adhered to
- Develop a strong relationship with subcontractors
- Ensure all site rules are adhered to by both employed and subcontracted labour
- Attend regular project performance meetings with the commercial and operational team
- Provide technical knowledge and support on site
- Provide first aid support on site
- Act as first point of contact for the public
- Ensure the site and its facilities are kept tidy and respectable at all times
- Work closely with the contracts manager to find any value engineering opportunities
- Attend monthly site meetings with the client, ensuring that all information required for the meeting is ready and the client is spoken to in a courteous manner
- Maintain good relationships with clients and architects to facilitate a long term working relationship
- Undertake other duties as may be requested from time to time
The individual should:
- Hold the SMSTS qualification
- Hold the first aid at work qualification
- Hold a CSCS card
- Be able to demonstrate at least five years’ experience in a construction environment
- Have good organisational skills
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Have good problem solving skills
- Be proficient in the use of IT software packages such as Office, Excel and Word
- Be an excellent communicator
- Be a team player
- Hold a full driving license
