How we work

Action for Children and the 2gether Trust joined together in partnership in 2011 to deliver mental health services for the children and young people of Gloucestershire. An innovative and creative approach to improving children and young people's emotional and social wellbeing by growing their self-esteem, resilience and social skills to enable them to succeed in life.

The service aims to work in collaboration with children and families to enable them to find solutions that improve their emotional health and wellbeing and lead to a positive and productive future for all.

We engage with children and young people and their families who are experiencing a range of mental health needs. We recognise that these needs can make children/ young people and their families particularly vulnerable and in need of support within their own community. Action for Children works in partnership with children / young people and their families to empower them to utilise their own internal and external resources to find meaningful solutions. Participation is one part of what Action for Children offer within this mental health setting.

How you'll make a difference

To enable the active participation of children and young people in experiences, opportunities and decisions that affect their lives and their ability to fulfil their potential. To ensure that the participation of children and young people is built into and practiced throughout CYPS 2gether Trust and its decision-making and to support the service to learn from the experiences of participation to further develop its work. As the Participation Worker you will need to be flexible often working outside office hrs (2-3 evening per week until 6-7pm). Excellent communication skills both verbal and written (report writing, record keeping and data collection is a function of the role) you will also need to be creative, fun and able to engage young people who are highly anxious, have suicidal ideation and who self-harm. Knowledge and experience of working in a mental health provision or with young people with mental health needs would be an advantage.
