Fire and Rescue Services are changing and we are no exception. Our role goes far beyond fighting fires and we are continually looking for ways to improve our effectiveness and efficiency to improve Public and Staff safety.
We are seeking a fully qualified Category Manager to join our professional team. The Procurement Department at DSFRS is working on a varied range of projects and procurements on both a Collaborative and National basis.
Applicants must be professionally qualified to Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (Advanced Diploma Level - MCIPS) or equivalent.
The roles requires:
- Experience of managing the end-to-end European Union tendering process; advertising, planning, handling tendering enquiries both internal and external to the Service; drafting and issuing tender documentation including specification, terms and conditions; conducting tender evaluations with stakeholders and providing supplier feedback.
- Excellent communication skills including ability to present information concisely and to influence both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to plan priorities and an understanding of formal project management methodologies.
- Excellent written skills and experience of leading on business benefit analysis, strategy development, business cases to advise on sourcing/procurement approaches.
- Good understanding of the requirements of procurement related legislation and recognised best practice within the Public Sector.
- Ability to identify opportunities, negotiate, persuade and influence others to achieve favourable outcomes and deliver, implement and manage change.
