Application Support Analyst

Reports to
Senior Business Project Manager

Role Purpose
My client has a growing application architecture that continues to evolve. The purpose of this role is to provide the expert knowledge on each of the systems and provide a central point of contact for the business to raise issues.
The role is also responsible for assisting in the design, testing and delivery of improvement of in-house software applications and has interactions with all areas of the business.
The application support analysis will provide input to the projects teams to further develop the system architecture.

Main Responsibilities

Application support
Be the central point of contact in the day to day support of the client business application systems base
Develop working relationships with the application suppliers
Triage user issues, maintain a log and conduct supplier reviews in support of the applications
Be responsible for ensuring support issues are prioritised and followed through to conclusion
Work with the suppliers to analyse and resolve issues in the application base
Test new releases and patches prior to implementation coordinate and manage the testing and release of fixes to the systems.
Train users on the use of systems
Advise on upcoming developments

Supplier management
Ensure stated key performance indicators for maintenance and support are met by the suppliers
Prioritise work within the supplier teams
Maintain a good level of knowledge of all current client applications

Business Analysis
Analyse and document business systems and process requirements
Produce change documentation and work with third parties to deliver changes as required
Provide input to product selection projects
Highlight where application changes would be beneficial to the business
Develop problem definitions & business cases in support of new developments and changes
Develop test plans and test cases in support of wider systems implementations
Document procedures and controls as required.
Support the programme and project management function by providing expert knowledge of the existing applications and possible future solutions.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required Experience, Skills and Behaviours
Strong applications knowledge of Underwriting Policy Administration Systems; Claims Management Systems; Aggregations system; Forecasting and Reporting systems within the London Market
Familiarity with practices and procedures and understanding and experience of handling a range of classes of business
Detailed knowledge of Sequel Eclipse Underwriting or another London Market Underwriting solution
Some basic knowledge of SQL
Demonstrable ability to produce and conduct test plans
Strong business understanding of the Lloyd's and London Insurance Market
Excellent IT skills and ability to pick up new systems quickly
Excellent problem solver
Good understanding of processes
Good communication skills and networks assertively and effectively
Be willing to challenge and question at all levels
Knowledge of project lifecycle
Self motivated and able to work independently
