Working for the Government Legal Department is an experience that is both career-defining and hugely satisfying. Providing legal services to every department in Whitehall, we work on everything from human rights to roads and rivers. As such there is great scope for development, in an environment where no two days are ever the same. And now you can join us - and make an active difference to the wellbeing of the UK.

We are recruiting for two Property Lawyers in GLD's Ministry of Defence (MOD) division, one at SEO grade and one at HEO grade,

In these exciting roles, you will meet with clients to provide sound legal advice on residential and commercial property law and any relevant topics. Utilising your excellent communication skills to continue these conversations via email, phone and legal clinics, your work will also touch on environmental, agricultural, litigation and planning law as appropriate.  Transactional property work will also fall into your remit, with contracts, tenders, tenant notices and so forth all forming an essential part of your knowledge. Advising and training all levels of colleagues, you'll share your expertise with everyone from surveyors to external legal colleagues. In the SEO role, you will also support grade 6 and 7 colleagues in their work.

We want you to really excel in these positions, so you will need to have excellent property law knowledge. A strategic thinker with good legal judgement, you will weigh up every decision against legal risks. Confident analysing legal research for use within your advice, you will deliver results consistently within a fast-paced environment. A clear understanding of the role of lawyers in government is essential - as is your ability to see the wider context in which you will be working. These are great opportunities to really make your mark, so join us and support the defence capabilities of the nation.

The post holder will be required to undergo security clearance to SC level.
