The Finance Manager Opportunity:

Reporting into the Managing Director and managing two bookkeepers and administrative staff the Finance Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, managing the company's financial affairs including cashflow, providing accurate management accounts and other financial reports, budgeting and providing financial forecasts and managing our relationship with the bank and external accountants.

Responsibilities Overview:

++ Financial Management

Take overall responsibility for ensuring accurate financial records are kept. Perform second-level authorisation of transactions, provide guidance and support to accounts staff in relation to bookkeeping matters.

+ Prepare accurate management accounts each month within prescribed timescale.
+ Prepare realistic financial forecasts and budgets as directed and compare against actual performance. 
+ Manage cashflow within financial limits ensuring sufficient cash is available for the businesses requirements.
+ Effective management of debtor ledger with effective communication process in place to minimise overdue accounts.
+ Manage day-to-day banking relationship, providing financial reporting to bank managers as required and discussing potential financial issues with bank manager. 
+ Manage payroll process providing accurate information to accountants and loading returns into accounting system ensuring remuneration is paid on time.
+ Management of HMRC relationship ensuring that all payments are made accurately and on time.
+ Accurate calculation of PAYE, VAT & Corporation tax.
+ Manage working relationship with external accountants
+ Take financial responsibility for our service contracts including monitoring lease renewals, annual service schedules, operating charges etc. Ensure costs are taken into account and support the renegotiation process as directed by MD & Board.

++ Staff Management:

+ Recruit and train an effective accounts / administration team
+ Ensure an effective system of performance management is in place for each member of staff
+ Cultivate a management culture that celebrates success and inspires staff to continually improve their performance. 

Finance Manager Required Skills:

+ Accountancy qualification preferred
+ Fully proficient in use of accounting software and spreadsheets
+ Possess good multi-tasking skills 
+ Good understanding of business and commercial issues
+ Prior experience managing a small team would be an advantage
+ An exceptional team player, with a ‘can-do’ approach.
+ Previous experience of “Sage” would be advantageous but experience in other accountancy packages considered.
