Release Manager – Luton, Bedfordshire, £50-55k plus bonus, package etc
This is an excellent opportunity to join a Global Outsourcing organization.
The primary purpose of this role is to manage the overall planning, preparation and scheduling of releases into the production environment. This role will be accountable for the successful planning, design, build, configuration and testing of hardware and software to create a set of release components and meet the target schedule release date.
They have responsibility for the scheduling of build activities, coordinating information with the Project Manager/Change Manger/requestor to ensure that the requirements and services are correctly interpreted. The role holder will have extensive experience of end to end Release Management of complex technical change and a background in managing multiple releases across varied functional areas and/or businesses.
Responsibilities
To ensure that the quality of software released into the live environment is of acceptable quality and is performing as per specification.Publication and constant refining of the release schedule using continuous improvement tools and techniquesMeasure and monitor progress to ensure releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectationsEnsure that the release is accepted into operations teams and service transition is successful.
Identify and pro-actively manage risks, issues and dependencies, escalating as appropriate.
Understand the business drivers, benefits and objectives through clearly defined success criteria
Initiate and support Release Management and Change Management process improvements
Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
Produce Deployment and Implementation Plans
Weekly Release Reporting
Skills required
3+ years of previous release management experience
Formal training in project management practices preferred
Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
General PC knowledge including Microsoft Office expert level knowledge of Excel, working Knowledge of Access
Proven track record in managing multiple internal key stakeholder relationships
End to end release management experience, including release from development, through test and live implementation
Practical experience of a broad range of release techniques, methodologies and tools
A thorough understanding of development practices such as agile development, source code control, change management and documentation.
KPI Management (Knowledge to define monitor KPIs and to derive measures for improvement)
