Care Worker – Make a Difference
Torquay, Devon
£8.00 - £8.75 per hour

Are you a friendly and enthusiastic individual looking to enhance your career in care work? If so, this is an amazing opportunity to join a successful charity that is dedicated to making a positive impact on young people’s lives.

With 20 years of success, our client provides a wide range of programmes and services to support children and young adults with learning disabilities. They are now looking for a number of Care Workers to join their team for permanent, full time and casual working hours.

As well as 28 days’ holiday, a company pension and a staff discount scheme, our client offers full training and on-going support in all of their roles so you can achieve your career ambitions. Children and young adults are at the heart of everything they do so if you share this passion, our client would love to hear from you.

As a Care Worker, you will join our client’s care home in Torquay providing support to young adults with complex learning disabilities.

Your focus will be on creating an enjoyable, comfortable and safe environment and achieving the aims and objectives of the home and residents.

Delivering a high level of personal care, you will ensure the boundaries of choice, dignity and respect are maintained and safeguarding issues are pursued.

Additionally, your role will involve:

- Supporting and enabling residents to participate with leisure activities and with the wider community
- Involving yourself in our client’s philosophy of supporting residents in the development, education and training of independence and social skills
- Supporting residents in all areas of personal care
- Assisting residents in day-to-day activities such as personal finances budgeting and entitlements around economic wellbeing

Interested? To be considered you must have previous relevant experience of working with people with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Although it is not a prerequisite, successful applicants will be expected to obtain the Care Certificate within an agreed timeframe.

Responsible, dependable and committed, as a Care Worker, you must also have a friendly, encouraging and easy-going attitude, as well as great communication skills.

Our client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and they expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

It would be great if you had previous experience of safe holding techniques, however this is by no means essential. Completion of a safeguarding foundation course would also be beneficial, as would a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop an engaging career with a forward-thinking not-for-profit organisation. Apply today!

Please note, the closing date for application is 5pm on Friday 24th March, 2017. Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing Monday 27th March, 2017.

Due to the nature and requirements of this role as well as under-representation within the care home’s workforce, male applicants are encouraged to apply.
