Mansfield District Council has a unique opportunity available for a Senior HR Adviser to join the team. The role is a full time, permanent position working 37 hours per week. We are offering a salary of £35,444 - £39,177 per annum plus benefits.

As one of the largest employers in the area we offer a wide range of services across the district including housing repairs, parks and green spaces, neighbourhood wardens, environmental health, planning and customer services to name just a few.

What are the responsibilities of the Senior HR Adviser?

- To operate according to the Council’s core values, mission statement and codes of behaviour.

- To ensure that annual budgets are prepared and regularly monitored and comply with Standing Orders and Financial and Administrative Regulations and Procedures.

- To promote and deliver fair, sensitive and quality services as a commitment to and understanding of the Council’s approach to equality and diversity.

- To comply with the Council’s Data Protection, Freedom of Information Act and ICT Codes of Practice.

- To apply, within Council policies, employee conditions of service (national and local), including day to day employees relations.

- Resolve queries/disputes etc. on behalf of management and/or employees and their representatives as appropriate, seeking to mediate and agree solutions and outcomes.

- Prepare and present a wide variety of reports emanating from service or corporate activities.

- Provide advice, information and assistance to service clients and employees on Conditions of Service (both Local and National) and Payroll Procedures.

- Co-ordinate the activity of the Admin/Payroll/Human Resources Advisers in order to provide cover/assistance as required to ensure that employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner.

- Attend Disciplinary/Grievance/Investigatory/ Appeal meetings, monitor the process, take notes for the personal file and advise managers and elected members accordingly.

What skills do I need to have to become a Senior HR Adviser?

You are a highly competent, generalist HR practitioner and change agent with a wide breadth of knowledge of HR practices. You will have in depth experience in a wide range of people management skills and employment law, and the flexibility to support strategic projects whilst providing operational expertise.

MCIPD qualified articulate, tenacious and able to form effective working relationships you’ll bring a proven track record in delivering an excellent HR service and leading a team. Operationally astute you will also have the ability to see the bigger picture and plan to achieve it. Above all, you’ll be motivated by the chance to drive change within the HR Shared Service and across the two councils.
