The Senior Virtualisation Engineer Role: 

+ You will be part of a team of technical experts delivering, managing and developing managed hosting services 24/7 from infrastructure through to operating systems
+ You will be responsible for assisting with the technical delivery of all managed hosting customers and product development
+ Manage systems 100% uptime for virtualization systems
+ Work closely with the Infrastructure Manager to ensure that we maintain 100% uptime for our customers 
+ Liaise with internal/external customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues as quickly as possible and with minimum customer impact
+ Assist with management of storage systems
+ Assist attain relevant industry compliance certification
+ Deliver to meet technical services operational budget
+ Input to strategic planning/budgeting exercises
+ Keep ahead of the market to help ensure managed hosting products are developed and enhanced to maintain market share/leadership
+ As a Subject Matter Expert you may be required to be available as an escalation point

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

+ VCP5/6 or relevant experience 
+ Strong technical background: VMware virtualization (vSphere/Horizon View) 
+ Strong understanding of the technologies and challenges in growing small/medium virtualization platforms
+ Experience of P2V technologies
+ Experience of managing infrastructure/technical services in a hosted environment
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ EMC products including VMAX, VNX, VNX2, xtremIO, Avamar, Recoverpoint 
+ Powershell / PowerCLI Scripting

You will have:

+ Good interpersonal skills when dealing with peers and clients
+ Good customer service skills
+ Proactive organisational skills with attention to detail
+ Good document writing skills to support system documentation, report writing and bid work
+ Ability to manage work load for themselves and associated teams in pressurised environments to time, quality and business standards
+ The ability to travel in mainland UK/internationally when required by the business
+ Aptitude to learn new skills
+ Ability to share knowledge and mentor junior members of the team when require
+ Experience in attaining industry compliance standards
+ Completely familiar with current developments and future trends re managed hosting systems/products
