Web Developer - University Web Sites & Applications
Canterbury, CT2
£32,928 - £38,183 per annum + Benefits

Do you enjoy developing and improving web sites and applications? Would you relish the challenge of creating excellent user experiences for potential and current students?

Becoming a Web Developer at the University of Kent offers you a fantastic chance to play a key role in shaping the user experience of the University’s online presence, and the establishment of a framework of excellence on the web.

This role would also allow you to train as an agile scrum master to help organise work for the team and ensure that work is prioritised and executed effectively.

You will be working in an enthusiastic and highly motivated team to design, develop and support key University web systems. You will maintain close relationships with a range of customers and stakeholders across the University to understand their requirements and translate them into attractive, effective, and responsive designs.

You will have a passion for developing excellent systems that meet or exceed user expectations.

You should be familiar with responsive design and mobile-first methodology – and have an understanding of how to shape the user experience to meet their needs. You should also have an understanding of Agile software development and be well organised to help with scrum master duties as necessary.

Your key technical skills will include a good working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, PHP and Javascript including jQuery.

With this role the IS Web Development Team will have 7 people who are responsible for key web systems such as the University website, online prospectus, student guide, blogs, news, SharePoint, campus maps and developing the new website theme. They use an agile approach to software development and were nominated for a UK Agile award in 2012.
