Our client has identified an excellent opportunity for a Production Manager to join their growing packaging business based in Swindon. They will be responsible for overseeing a team of 2 supervisors and 20+ full time staff.

The role would suit an individual who is very hands on but can also take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Position Summary
As Production Manager, your role will involve overseeing the daily operations, ensuring that the goods are produced efficiently, on time and to a high standard as per the customers’ specification; also setting the strategic vision for the team on both a daily and long term basis. You will be responsible for completing the daily plan and holding Supervisors accountable for the team’s performance.

Daily responsibilities:
• Oversee the production process, co-ordinate production plans ensuring resources are allocated appropriately
• Own process improvement for the department, both driving improvements and delegating to the team
• Establish area performance standards / goals and hold the team accountable for delivery
• Building and development of the production team, ensuring people are adequately trained and held accountable to meet performance criteria
• Ensure all safety requirements and training are adhered to at all times


Person Specification
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience to undertake the role:

• Previous management experience in a manufacturing facility;
• Use of IT systems including MS Office and some type of MRP/Production Planning package;
• Working with heavy manufacturing machinery
• Experience of coaching and mentoring staff and KPI Reporting
• Lean implementation (Six sigma or similar lean qualification would be advantageous but not necessary)

Desirable Experience

• Working with corrugated materials or print experience
• H&S qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH)
• JIT/Kanban production – batch methods
• Leadership / Management qualification (ILM, CMI or similar)
