Part-time/Full-time Automotive Design Engineer (Commercial Vehicles)
We are a small/medium size company based in Warrington building commercial vehicle bodies. We are about to expand into chassis modifications and manufacturing drawbar trailers and are looking for an engineer willing to set up and head a team for this type of engineering work.
The applicant will:
-use computer-aided design (CAD) packages to develop ideas and produce designs
-oversee the design and sign off aspects such as Steering, Brakes Systems and Suspension with the assistance of suppliers.
-take into consideration changing customer needs and government emissions regulations when developing new designs and manufacturing procedures;
-prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications;
-investigating mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems;
-liaise with suppliers and handling supply chain management issues.
As an Automotive Design Engineer you MAY have:
-MEng, BEng, MSc, BSc qualification or equivalent in an Engineering subject;
-broad knowledge of Steering, Brake Systems, Suspensions and Legislation;
-broad knowledge of CAD systems and Truckwin.
Responsibilities you will have as the Automotive Design Engineer:
-work with the team to define installation requirements and support design reviews;
-lead the engineering on all chassis related matters;
-support critical design appraisals throughout the design and development life-cycle;
-prepare documentation material for reporting technical issue resolution;
-assist in the expansion of new markets.
This is a new role and a real opportunity for the right applicant.
