Buyer – Manufacturing / Engineering Cambridge, Cambridgeshire £30,000 - £35,000 DOE Plus Benefits including Pension Scheme, 24 Days’ Holiday An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join our client, an established supplier of safety and security solutions. If you are a buyer or senior buyer from an engineering or manufacturing background, this is a superb opportunity to develop an engaging and rewarding career. As a Buyer, you will support our client’s Purchasing function. Striving to minimise costs whilst maintaining quality, you will establish modern supply chain techniques to meet the needs of our client’s Lean manufacturing environment. Specifically, your duties will involve: - Overseeing the consignment of stock and vendor-managed stock - Establishing and maintaining performance metrics - Implementing supplier agreements - Managing the MRP process - Maintaining purchasing quality management processes - Working with the Engineering Department to buy materials for prototypes Essential requirements: - At least two years’ experience as a buyer or senior buyer within a manufacturing and/or engineering environment - Experience of working to ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems - A strong track record of successful supplier price negotiations Analytical and detail-oriented, as a Buyer, you’ll have excellent negotiation and communication skills. You’ll also be self-motivated and resourceful with a collaborative approach to problem-solving. A CIPS qualification would be beneficial, as would familiarity with MRP operations and Sage 200 software.
