Network Engineer

nGeneration Limited is one of the UK's leading independent IT service and software solution providers to the UK Corporate Hospitality market, our Customers are groups including include pubs, clubs, restaurants and hotels.

Due to Company expansion we are currently seeking an enthusiastic Network Engineer to join our dynamic and expanding team.

 You will be responsible for securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies alongside defining and monitoring access. You will also be required to provide remote support and troubleshooting to both engineers and Customers.

The main responsibilities for this role will be:

  • Establishing the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimisation.
  • Upgrading data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
  • The configuration of routing and switching equipment.
  • The configuration of hosted IP voice services.
  • Remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation.
  • Remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation.
  • Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review.
  • Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.

The essential skills for this role are:

  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' experience working in a like role or 3 years of experience working in Managed Services.
  • Familiarity with: VPNs, VOIP, SIP Trunking, BGP, VLAN, Large Scale Wireless Deployments
  • Security software such as Anti-virus, Anti-SPAM, Anti-Spyware, and other security related technologies.
  • Industry Certifications; these can include MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCSA
  • Knowledge and ability to utilise network technologies such as TCP/IP, MPLS, Client VPN and WAN VPN, WAN, LAN, VLANs, Multi-Cast, Telephony and VOIP, Penetration Testing.
  • Good Communication skills (both verbal and written)

This role will be office based at our Head Office in Dudley and will involve working 5 days out of 7 days.
