Cambridge University Press needs an experienced Events Manager to manage all operations of the Cass Centre sports and leisure venue, and to manage corporate events at the Pitt Building conference venue.
What are the responsibilities of the Events Manager?
You will be managing the sports and leisure facilities at the Cass Centre, ensuring a regular timetable of activities is made available to staff and external customers. You will also be managing a licensed bar and a team of bar staff. Additionally management and co-ordination is required for high profile internal and external corporate events at both the Cass Centre and Pitt Building venues, such as Board meetings, seminars, conferences, training days, breakfast meetings, drinks receptions, presentations and social events, ensuring that customers’ requirements are met and that exceptional service is provided at all times.
Key duties will include the planning and execution of events, bidding for business, issuing contracts and negotiating rates, managing support staff, promoting our facilities to potential clients and assuming managerial responsibility for venues.
What skills do I need to have to become an Events Manager?
You will have an enthusiasm for sport and leisure, with proven experience in events, sales and customer facing roles. You will be passionate about delivering an unrivalled customer experience, with the ability to communicate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Additional skills in IT systems and previous use of the KX event management system would be a distinct advantage.
This is a varied and wide ranging management role working as part of a small events team. The working hours are 38.75 hours a week, which can vary on a weekly basis and include early starts and late finishes on occasion. Additionally, with this role covering two sites, candidates will have to commit to a level of flexibility when required.
