Young People’s Project Worker (Supported Housing)

If so, you’ll be interested to hear that North Wales Housing have an exciting opportunity for a Young People’s Project Worker to join the team at the Pendinas Hostel in Bangor.

As an ambitious social enterprise North Wales Housing provides homes and delivers services to over 2,500 households across North Wales. The growing organisation employs up to 200 people and is proud to be accredited with an ‘Investors in People’ award.

Reporting to the Scheme Manager, as a Young People’s Project Worker you’ll be providing an effective housing support service to young people leaving care, teaching them effective management of their accommodation and helping them to being able to sustain their own tenancy on leaving.

Your main responsibilities and duties will include, although not be limited to;

  • Taking responsibility for implementing an appropriate individual support plan carrying out regular reviews in accordance with organisational procedures and statutory requirements
  • Providing support to prepare the young people for independent living
  • Providing support with education/training and volunteering opportunities
  • Providing support to young people with moving on to other accommodation where appropriate and support with resettlement
  • Liaising effectively with voluntary and statutory agencies ensuring the provision of consistent good quality support and advice
  • Liaising effectively with the Association’s Rents and Revenues Team to ensure regular payments of rent and to minimise arrears and debt
  • Reporting all relevant housing management and support issues effectively to the Scheme Manager
  • Providing a progress and statistical report for the 16+ team on a monthly basis

To be considered for this Young People’s Project Worker role you MUST have the following experience, skills, and attributes;

  • Experience of working in a customer focused organisation 
  • Ability to support young people to ensure the security of their home, reporting maintenance, maintaining cleanliness of the property
  • An awareness of the support needs of vulnerable young people with the ability to work alone with confidence and good judgement
  • An increased fluency to converse in Welsh which will include a confidence to give presentations in Welsh. You will have some ability to prepare written documentation in Welsh but may require some support
  • Up to date knowledge of welfare benefits and housing benefits, with the ability to advise on budgeting and money management
  • Knowledge of local specialist agencies e.g. drug and alcohol, mental health services etc.
  • Knowledge of housing management legislation and good practice
  • A willingness to undertake any relevant training
  • A practical, problem-solving approach to supporting people within their tenancies
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • A full driving licence and the availability of a vehicle for work purposes

This post requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.

In return;

Salary: £17,258 per annum
