Geography Teacher - Plymouth

We are searching for an exceptional teacher of Geography to join and potentially lead a hardworking team in a forward thinking School in central Plymouth.

The successful candidate will be able to support, develop and ensure that the high standards of teaching and learning are met within the Geography department. While this post will not be open until September, we do have several temporary opportunities in the mean time if you do require an immediate start.

The department is made up of four specialist Geographers and this post has come up due to retirement of one of the team. There are currently four GCSE teaching groups in yr10 and three in yr11. There is one A Level teaching group in Y12 and one in Y13. The department has adopted the AQA (9-1) examination specification for GCSE and the Edexcel A Level.

Last year, GCSE performance was good with 76% achieving A*-C and almost a quarter of students obtaining A*-A. In Year 12 92% of students passed AS Level Geography with 46% achieving A*-C. In Year 13, there was a 100% pass rate with 71% obtaining A*-C.

The department has its own suite of three well-resourced rooms and a large office with workspace for all staff. There are several bookable ICT suites opposite and very close to the departmental classrooms.

In order to be successful you will need to attend an initial informal interview followed by a classroom observation and a more formal interview. You will require QTS or equivalent and will be subject to a DBS check and at least two references from your most recent employment.

Applicants will be paid to scale for this position. If this sounds like the right fit for you, please apply now and we will contact you with further information.
