Job Title: Buyer - Goods & Services

Working in the Infrastructure Division, the main purpose of this role will be to support the Senior Procurement Manager in pro-actively seeking and implementing opportunities for added value procurement through buying materials, services, contracting, improved cost effective supply arrangements and negotiation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identifying allocated purchasing activities to achieve best value for money.
• Assisting the Senior Procurement Manager to deliver against the annual savings plan by identifying, achieving and recording cost savings.
• Working with senior managers to assist with improvements and streamlining of processes to reduce costs.
• Processing Sub-Contract and Purchase orders for the Colas Rail Infrastructure production team across the South of United Kingdom.
• Support the strategic Procurement planning, execution and capture performance of the key Sub-Contractors and Suppliers.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, HNC, BTec Higher Professional Diploma, or equivalent NVQ Level 4 qualifications.
• Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or MCIPS desirable.
• Minimum 2 years of buying experience.
• Experience of Procurement processes.
• Commercial awareness.
• Knowledge of railway terminology and procedures.
• Awareness of Supply Chain and performance management.
• Tendering & Supplier selection.
• Proven Purchasing and Sub-Contract buying experience, ideally within the rail sector.
