We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and adaptive individual to take on the role as Senior Support Worker.

The job of Senior Support Worker will be to support service users who have learning disabilities, communication difficulties, physical health needs and some behaviour that challenges to help them maximise their potential in leading an ordinary life. Duties will include supporting adults with learning disabilities to develop independence in their own home and in the community and supporting them in all activities of daily living.

In addition to the above as the Senior Support Worker, the role will include supporting the management in the day to day running of the services, ensuring that all service user care needs are met and all policies and procedures are adhered to. Must have the ability to supervise a staff team across 3-5 locations, make decisions responsibly and undertake necessary tasks on a daily basis.

The successful Senior Support Worker will be expected to:

  • Have a understanding of human rights, dignity, privacy, respect and choice

  • A knowledge of health and safety when supporting vulnerable adults
  • Have the ability to work autonomously and make decisions on a day to day basis
  • Have working knowledge of support plans, risk assessments and other relevant documentation
  • A knowledge of CQC, the two groups of regulations (Health and Social Care Act 2008 and CQC regulations 2009) and also the fundamental standards
  • The ability to manage staff and maintain a professional attitude
  • Have the ability to write reports and record information accurately and concisely
  • The ability to assess individual needs and act appropriately
  • Have good communication skills

Senior support worker will be required to work a 37.5 hour week on a rota basis; this will include weekends, nights and bank holidays. Hours will be split between shifts within services and management hours. The role will include on-call responsibilities with senior support staff expected to cover 2-5 days on calls per week. Time flexibility will be required as may need to provide cover at short notice on occasions.

Will be expected to work across a number of services, providing management support and cover.

Driver and car owner is essential.

Senior experience preferred but not essential

This post comes with the expectation that the applicants hold or will be willing to undertake Diploma in Health and Social Care - level 3 and then Management Diploma - level 5.
