6-month contract

As part of the Mears Group, Let to Birmingham are Birmingham City Council’s ‘social lettings agency'. We work solely with the council to provide private rented property to people on the Housing Register.

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Housing Officer to join us on a 6 month fixed term contract basis.  Within this role, you will provide a comprehensive, effective and varied housing service to residents within Birmingham, in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

You will arrange settling-in visits and will make sure that each managed property is inspected as per the inspection cycle.

You will also be responsible for assisting the Income Collections Officer to manage the level of rent arrears.  This will include regular monitoring of accounts, generation of correspondence, carrying out home visits, collecting rent and top ups, agreeing repayment methods and serving legal notices.

In addition, you will also ensure effective collection of former rent arrears and will investigate, collect information and report on any incidents of nuisance or antisocial behaviour.

In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that candidates have a good level of general education to GCSE standard coupled with previous experience in a similar role.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will be motivated, able to use your own initiative and have the ability to stay calm under pressure.

Although not essential, experience of working in a social housing environment and a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous.
