A superb opportunity has arisen for a hardworking and flexible individual to join the quality focused Sorting Laboratory Department at Cogent. Previous laboratory experience and/or an interest in science would be preferable but are not essential as full training will be provided as long as you’re enthusiastic and willing to learn everything you need to know to become a successful Lab Technician.

Reporting to the Sorting Laboratory Supervisor, as a Sorting Lab Technician, your responsibilities and duties will include although not be limited to; the preparation, operation and maintenance of production equipment; semen assessment, processing and freezing; and record keeping.
To be considered for this Sorting Lab Technician role you MUST have the following skills, knowledge and attributes;
- Good trouble shooting and problem solving skills
- Ability to work to targets and clearly specified KPI’s
- Superb organisation skills
- Hard working and flexibility with time
- Understanding of working to standard operating procedures and a high level of attention to detail
- Confidence with IT interfaces and systems
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards approaching and tackling challenges
Salary:£17,500 rising to £19,500 after 12 months
Additional benefits: 29 days annual leave including statutory, rising to 31 days annual leave including statutory after 12 months, pension and life assurance
Hours of work: Full time, working 48 hours every 8 days. You’ll be working a 4 days in, 4 days out rota, covering a continental shift pattern:
7am to 7pm for the first 2 days
7pm to 7am for the following 2 days
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Aldford, Chester. You’ll also be required to travel occasionally to the Cogent head office located in Tattenhall, Chester.
