About us: Generating usable power from renewable source is an integral part of a new and sustainable energy supply. One way to produce environmentally friendly energy is using old and waste wood as fuel to generate electricity and usable heat. MVV Environment Ridham Ltd is employing this technology at our Biomass plant at Ridham Dock near Sittingbourne (Kent).

 

Position: Mechanical Engineer

Working hours: Full time (40 hours per week)

Package: Competitive Salary, bonus and benefits package

Purpose of the position: Support the Facility Manager in the mechanical and process maintenance of the Biomass Plant. Ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient maintenance of all mechanical and process equipment in order to deliver best plant service availability and performance within approved budgets.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe, compliant and efficient maintenance in order to deliver maximum availability and performance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, guidelines and instructions including: Pressure Systems Safety Regulations, Written Scheme of Examination, LOLER, PUWER and COSHH
  • Responsible for maintenance methods, technology, quality and innovation of mechanical and process apparatus
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating mechanical service contractors
  • Responsible for mechanical and process maintenance cost,  dates, documentation and records
  • Responsible for facility down time caused by mechanical and process apparatus
  • Responsible for performance and availability of mechanical and process apparatus

 

Knowledge, qualifications and experience:

  • HND (minimum qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Served a recognised apprenticeship
  • Minimum 3 years' experience gained in a continuous process industry
  • Proven experience of mechanical and process maintenance operations in Energy from Waste or similar processes, operating high pressure steam systems
  • Experience of managing and coordinating mechanical service contractors
  • Good knowledge of and ability to compile and assess Safe Systems of Work Documentation
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and working at height
  • Computer literate and ability to train in new systems
  • Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Pro-active with good decision making skills
  • Flexible and contactable (if urgent) outside of working hours
