The Role
The Financial Accounts Manager is responsible for monitoring and reconciling general ledger cost centres, departmental projects, trading and suspense accounts. The role exists to support the Finance Manager in maintaining accuracy and timely accounts.
Responsibilities
Reconciliation of the General Ledger and preparation for period-end accounting
- Check cost centre transactions regularly to maintain integrity of data
- Advise of errors and discrepancies and prepare corrections
- Assist in preparation of accruals and prepayments
- Regularly review and clear suspense and default accounts
- Process technician timesheets and action other salary recharges
- Review VAT treatment monthly and correct as necessary
- Raise, request and review inter-departmental transfers
- Prepare reports as required for the Finance Manager
Essential
Full or part-qualification in AAT (those part-qualified will be supported with their training where possible)
Substantial relevant financial management experience with significant experience in an accounts office
Experience of spreadsheets, databases and financial software packages, ideally Oracle.
High level of IT skills including advanced use of Excel
Ability to take personal responsibility for high standard of work, using initiative and working with minimal responsibility
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial rules to non-finance staff members
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage own time and workload, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
Flexible approach and ability to problem solve.
