Legal Secretary / PA
(Temporary 9 month fixed term contract to cover Maternity Leave)
A UK top ranked Legal 500 firm based in central Cardiff are looking to recruit a Legal Secretary/PA on a temporary 9 month fixed term contract to cover Maternity Leave.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday 9.00- 5.00pm however some flexibility will be required.
A part time position may also be considered.
A successful applicant will provide administrative and secretarial support and will act as a personal assistant to the head consultant.
The role will include but is not limited to the following:
- Manage all client accounts/finances, prepare legal aid and private billing
- Oversee daily running of the office
- Prepare files for court proceedings, liaise with courts, prosecutions and clients
- Arrange travel accommodation
- Screen phone calls, enquiries and requests, handling them where appropriate
- Organise and maintain diaries and make appointments
- Deal with incoming email and post, corresponding on behalf of the head consultant
- Act as a liaison between head consultant other lawyers and practice manager
- Liaise with Barristers and Clerks, assisting with trial preparation and negotiating fees
- File opening and closing
- Taking a leading role in ensuring Lexcel Accreditation is secured annually; preparing for audit and maintaining compliance
The Successful Applicant
- Previous PA experience within a professional services environment
- Well organised, efficient with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a sensitive and discreet manner
- Must be self – motivated/ able to work independently but also willing to provide constant support to colleagues
- Pro- active and supportive when considering needs of fee earners and clients
- Great communication skills, able to liaise effectively with people at all levels whilst maintaining a professional manner
- Advanced IT Skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook
