The University of Cumbria has a unique opportunity available for a Systems Development Leader to join the team in Lancaster. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of £32,004 - £36,001 per annum.

What are the responsibilities of the Systems Development Leader?
An exciting opportunity has arisen, to take on the leadership of a small team developing and supporting the University’s information systems (Student systems, finance, HR, payroll, timetabling, CRM, web CMS, portals etc).
The nature of work varies considerably but you will have recognised expertise and will be line managing an operational team. Contributions include project or contract management, responsibility for financial performance (cost control and/or some aspects of income) and input into planning and policy development.
What skills do I need to have to become a Systems Development Leader?
You will be an experienced developer in SQL Server and C#, or have equivalent experience in alternative database and programming tools and a willingness to re-train in Microsoft technologies. Other relevant experience would include Sharepoint, BI, web services and XML.
As our Systems Development Leader you will have some experience in leading a development team with the ability to establish and promote technical standards for design, coding, testing and documentation. The role requires a confident communicator with technical colleagues, system suppliers and system administrators in other departments. You will also be familiar with basic project management methods e.g. estimating, project plans, issue & risk management.
You will also have experience of supporting information systems in a corporate environment, within published SLA targets. You will be familiar with ITIL principles e.g. incident, problem and change management. Experience in Higher Education is an advantage but not essential.
