Main purpose of job: Welder/fabricators assemble metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools. Welder/fabricators produce metal products according to customer or employer specifications. They use multiple welding machines to repair and maintain metal equipment and structures of various sizes. Welder/fabricators read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects. Welder/fabricators set up, operate and maintain welding equipment. They understand and implement personal and company safety measures by wearing specialised PPE.

Duties Include:
Operate machinery including rollers, press brakes and drills.
Proficiently operate MIG and TIG welding equipment with primarily focus on stainless and mild steel.
Examine work pieces for defects. Remove rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
Proficiently operate cutting saw and other metal fabrication tools.
Maintain the cleanliness of one's work area and the overall shop.
Complete required paperwork.
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
