Role: Structural Design Engineer
Location: Tonbridge
Salary: Up to GBP35,000

Penguin Recruitment are currently looking for a Structural Design Engineer to join an Engineering Consultancy based in Tonbridge. The company are a Consulting Engineering practice carrying out the design and supervision of a broad range of civil and structural engineering projects. The variety of work carried out by the company, of all sizes and complexity makes them an ideal employer for those wishing to progress in a meaningful and worthwhile career. The company operate a flexi-time system based on a standard 40 hour week.
The successful Structural Design Engineer's role will require the following:
* To be the lead structural design engineer on a number of multi million pound new-build and refurbishment schemes;
* To manage and develop a structural engineering team;
* To develop good relationships with clients;
* To prepare, design and manage structural engineering schemes from feasibility through to completion;
* To project manage a team of junior engineers to assist in the design of the schemes;
* To carry out site visits;
* To develop the professional skill of team members;
* To check the work of team members or others as necessary;
* To conduct appraisals of team members;
* To communicate with clients effectively.
The successful Structural Design Engineer must meet the following criteria:
* Must have a relevant Structural Engineering degree;
* Must be a Chartered Structural Engineer, or near Chartered;
* Conversant with design in steel, concrete, masonry and timber;
* Have experience in multi storey building design over five storeys;
* Have experience in design of large span steel framed buildings;
* Have experience in designing a variety of foundations;
* Able to use MS Office Word and Excel;
* Full UK drivers licence;
* Disciplined and organised;
* Passionate about good customer service;
* Articulate and a good communicator;
* Self-motivator and keen to work;
* Knowledge of Autocad Software would be an advantage;
* Good knowledge of Tekla or Orion / Fastrak / TEDDS would be an advantage.
