Engineering Team Lead Opportunities

Salary up to GBP52,000 depending on experience
B/E Aerospace in Leighton Buzzard are the sole supplier of galleys and trolley compartments for the Airbus A350. Our business is rapidly expanding and ramping up as the new aircraft enters production and with the impact of this programme alone means that production rates will increase from typically one ship-set per month to 13 per month. This will be sustained for at least the next ten years, with further programmes expecting to be added to the portfolio. Joining our Engineering Team as an Engineering Team Lead, you will be required to build and lead a team responsible for defining and shaping the overall system architecture, systems integration and systems validation and verification strategy for aircraft system technologies.
Nature of the Engineering Team Lead role:
- Building, leading and developing a team of Design Engineers with an appropriate mix of skills to deliver the engineering solution.
- Develop and implement training and development plans for functional Engineering team.
- Following and contributing to the development of the Best Practice guidelines as laid out in documentation.
- Providing technical leadership and direction to the team.
- Defining, delegating and reporting status of the Work Breakdown Structure
- Organising and participating in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process. Ensure that all necessary follow up actions are taken
- Organising and running FMECA reviews and ensure that appropriate actions are carried out to mitigate risk
- Working with the Certification department to ensure that the design solution meets the appropriate airworthiness requirements
- Maintaining the engineering quality and integrity of the work produced within their work package
- The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element and to provide assistance to other team members
- Ensuring the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole
- Any other reasonable duties as required
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities needed to become the Engineering Team Lead:
We are looking for someone who has an Engineering degree or ONC / HNC in design related field and or proven related experience:
- Experience of leading a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- The ability to work with a low level of supervision and intervention
- Competent user of the incumbent CAD and data management systems & MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture to be employed such as: Machining, Casting, Vacuum forming, Injection moulding, Composite materials, Trim and finish
