DESIGN ENGINEER (SHEET METAL)
A great opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated design engineer experienced in sheet metal and SolidWorks, 3D CAD/CAM Technology/ software to join my client's Design department and a fast paced engineering environment.
Salary: circa GBP30K plus benefits - 40 hours per week plus plenty of overtime with overtime rates
Location: Leicester area
THE ROLE:
To develop and deliver bespoke Engineered Solutions to customer specifications. As an integral part of the team you will work wihtin a great atmosphere with an experienced design team using Solidworks and AutoCAD to create bespoke concept design and complex 3D CAD assemblies. This includes liaising with production department and managing the design process from initial enquiry through to completion of manufactured product.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: As the successful Design Engineer you will:
- Work from calculations and / or rough sketches to produce accurate and structured drawings
- Work on new design concepts to increase equipment capabilities or to reduce costs
- Compile and amending Bill of materials, and uploading BOM's to the MRP system
- Compile manufacturing packs to assist engineers with assembly of machinery
- Present designs at design review stage
- Work on design solutions for the sales team
- Assist the shop floor team with build queries
- Conduct feasibility studies for new concepts
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree qualified (2:2 or above) in mechanical engineering or related discipline
- 3+ years of industry design experience combined with an understanding of manufacturing (Engineering: 2 years and industry design: 2 years)
- Strong analytical thinking and provide the highest quality service to customers
- Effective communicator and team player with a 'can-do' approach
- Detail conscious, self-motivated, flexible, hardworking, takes on new challenges
- Able to manage time effectively
- Effective as a team member or standalone designer
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, comfortable liaising with clients/ colleagues
- A high level of enthusiasm, motivation and commitment
THE IDEAL APPLICANT will be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of fabrication design using SolidWorks and Sheetworks (or similar 3D CAD software), as well as a proven knowledge of the practical aspects of sheet steel fabrication.
