The electrical/electronics market is growing rapidly and the need for greater connectivity, safety and informatics is greater than ever! An automotive consultancy are growing in many different areas of their business and are looking for an electrical design engineer with a background in harness design to join the specialist vehicle conversions team. At present, they currently offer test and development consultancy services to a majority of the UK's automotive OEM's and (with the increased workload) are looking to modernise, update and expand their already impressive facilities.
As an electrical design engineer, you will be responsible for working on a number of harness design projects following a V-cycle approach. This will involve redesigning a vehicles electrical system before reintegrating back in to the existing vehicle- sounds easy right? You will meet with customers to provide the technical know-how on projects; before supporting on specifications; modifying circuit diagrams and redesigning harness layouts; liaise with suppliers to source components; before working with other functions to integrate the sub-systems back in to the vehicle.
Ideally, you will currently be working as an electrical design engineer or be fresh out of university (with a relevant placement) and have worked on harness design projects. You may have also used software tools like VeSys, Capital Harness, AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken or similar too.
Skills/Knowledge;
- Ideally degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
- Proven background in harness design is essential.
- A good knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture would also put you at a distinct advantage.
- A hands-on person who isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty.
- Knowledge of an industry standard software tool, i.e. VeSys, Capital Harness, AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken etc.
- A confident character who can liaise with stakeholders at all level internally and externally.
Candidates must be able to achieve basic security clearance.
