ABOUT THE ROLE
Job purpose:
This role will report functionally to the Head of Commercial and Bid Management but will be seconded full-time into the Military Aerospace business unit where they will work with the Business Director and Sales Director in supporting 'new international business growth.
Military Aerospace provides a wide range of support solutions to military customers, including the UK's C-130 fleet, as well as several international Air Forces and covers all aspects of military aircraft support, maintenance, modification and repair.
The business strategy is to grow this business unit in both Domestic and International business sectors.
Key Tasks:
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of bid management on assigned tasks in order to prepare and submit winning proposals. In particular, the successful candidate will be required to:
- Develop, manage and implement bid management plans
- Ensure efficient communication with customers, where appropriate via Sales Executives
- Undertake elements of bid and proposal activity as appropriate, including risk assessments and mitigation actions
- Liaise regularly with all stakeholders to ensure their buy-in to proposals
- Conduct the bid progression and approval process in accordance with Marshall Aerospace Life Cycle Management and the formal Gate Reviews
- Determine and manage the bid budget including risk reduction development work
- Oversee the final production and delivery of the proposal
- Carry out 'lessons learnt' reviews and feedback key points for improvement to the department, other relevant functions and Marshall Bid Managers (as appropriate).

Skills and Experience:
Essential requirements:
- Confident and diplomatic with an ability to create and foster working relationships internally and with customers at all levels of the business
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised and produce accurate work under pressure whilst continuing to meet set deadlines
- Innovative with the ability to develop and clearly express novel approaches and solutions and effectively resolve arising issues
- A background of programme or project management, coupled with strong planning and scheduling skills
- Experience of aircraft engineering or related design activities
- Knowledge of operational matters
- Proven track record of team leadership in a time-critical environment
- Previous experience of budget management and reporting
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Commercial and financial awareness
- A good working knowledge of all MS Office packages is essential
- Ability to travel if required
Desirable requirements:
- Previous bid or delivery experience in a complex aerospace or similar/related project environment or industry
- Formal qualifications in bid/programme/project management
