Legal Higher Apprenticeship

Position: Legal Higher Apprenticeship

Salary: GBPCompetitive, NG Bailey pay rates exceed the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage.
About the role:
This apprenticeship is designed to equip individuals for a career as a Solicitor. Apprentices will be working closely with NG Bailey's legal team to provide advice across a range of projects to the commercial team.
Responsibilities:
- With appropriate supervision assist the legal department in supporting the commercial function in winning projects and managing risk appropriately in contracts and across the supply chain
- With appropriate supervision, provide internal support to the businesses in litigious matters
- With appropriate supervision provide effective support to the corporate, employment, property and compliance parts of the legal department and other central functions when required
- Assist the legal department and the businesses in managing the instruction and adherence of external legal advisers in line with agreed terms and conditions and budgets
- Where necessary assist the Insurance Adviser in the formation, management and reporting of insurance claims
- Assist the legal team in ensuring compliance with internal processes and systems of good legal governance
Apprenticeship consists of:
The 6 year apprenticeship programme consists of both off the job and onsite training and assessment. Off the job training will be carried out at the training provider premises or NGB office.
While no initial legal training is involved, the role requires high academic, numeracy and presentational skills and the ability to develop a strong legal knowledge in and out of Law School / University together with the ability to quickly learn new specialist areas of law and assess the risk involved in a matter. During the apprenticeship, the apprentice is required to develop their skills incrementally and ultimately demonstrate the required academic standard, skills and qualifications to qualify as a solicitor.
The role will also require an ability to work with complex legal issues and find commercial solutions for the business in line with acceptable governance and processes under the appropriate supervision of more skilled and experienced lawyers.
The role also requires some ability to work independently and pro-actively under appropriate supervision whilst being an important part of a small team based in Birmingham, Manchester and Denton.
While the role is based in Birmingham, appropriate travel to other offices and sites to advise the businesses will be a regular part of the role.
About you:
3 A Levels at grade ABB, Grade B / 6 or above in GCSE (or equivalent) English language and maths plus 3 other subjects at grade B / 6 or above. In order to be successful on their apprenticeship programme you must be driven, dedicated, hardworking and enjoy working as part of a team.
