The Company:
Our client is one of the UK's leading furniture manufacturers and they are looking for an extremely driven, capable and innovative Purchasing Manager to oversee their Group procurement spend. Whilst other raw materials are used within their manufacturing process, the primary cost to the business is fabric so they would ideally like to attract somebody who offers experience within this sector.
Job responsibilities:
- Establish and implement purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures.
- In liaison with the divisional management, provide leadership and development advice and training to Purchasing staff as and when required.
- Collaborate with Operations Management to establish inventory safety stock levels, reorder amounts and lead times for all raw materials.
- Collaborate with product development management teams within each business to source new and alternative raw materials
- Establish, build, and maintain relationships with all key suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers as well as establishing formal legal contracts where appropriate
- Review and resolve any supplier discrepancies, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance or quality issues
- Provide raw material and finished goods projections to key suppliers to ensure product availability on a timely basis
- Review and control the purchase order process for all raw materials or finished goods and outside services
- Develop analysis and reporting systems to monitor the purchasing departments control and effectiveness
Preferred Skills:
- Educated to degree level
- Recognised as a procurement professional
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) qualified preferred but not mandatory
- A good technical appreciation of the range of procurement categories
- Strong influencing skills at senior levels to influence acceptance of a new way of working
- Significant previous procurement experience with responsibility for delivery of Procurement benefits including financial savings.
- Experience of leading a Procurement department within a manufacturing organisation - preferably in a Group environment
- Experience of working within an organisation with multiple locations.
- Strong leadership of purchasing teams
- Project Management skills
- Excellent team management and people skills are essential.
- Ability to negotiate at the highest levels with suppliers
- Good IT skills to include wide experience of word documents, Excel spreadsheets (including pivot tables and charts) and PowerPoint

- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
